Prom Hair Styles – Down or Up?
Almost as important as the prom dress is the hair style chosen
for the big event. It’s a chance to put your inhibitions on hold and
your hair in the hands of a stylist. Updos, half updos, twists, buns
and curls are all an important part of prom for the young woman.
It’s probably a good idea to do some research before heading out to the
stylist. There are several ways to accomplish this. Web sites dedicated
to proms and hair styles offer a look a variety of styles. Celebrities
might have just the look you want for prom night. Even if you’re sure
what you want, have a backup plan. The stylist might point out that
your hair is not meant for that style, or she might tell you that
“simply everyone” has chosen that style for this year’s prom. It’s a
chance to really dress up, but some young women might chose a hair
style for the prom that reflects a more casual look, especially if the
dress is to be casual.
If you plan to put your hair in the hands of your stylist, remember to
dress appropriately for the appointment (and remember to make your
appointment well in advance because everyone will be looking for an
afternoon appointment near prom time). Wearing a tee shirt or other
clothing that must slip back over your head is a no-no. You’ll end up
dragging out pins as you try to get out of your casual clothing and
into the prom dress. Likewise, consider the dress as you choose the
hair style for your prom. If the dress is a tight fit over your head,
talk to your stylist before selecting a hair style. Asking for help
getting the dress over your head will be much less embarrassing than
having your hair hanging around your shoulders from being pulled from
its careful style.
