The Search for Perfect Prom Shoes
The perfect prom dress and all the accessories are safely
tucked away at home, with the only remaining detail right at your feet
– prom shoes. One option is to purchase shoes to be dyed. Most dress
shops carry these shoes in several styles. The dying options are for an
almost limitless range of colors and shades and can usually get them
back to the customer in a relatively short period of time.
If dyed prom shoes don’t seem to be the answer for you, the next step
is to shop, shop, shop, but there are some important things to keep in
mind. First, remember that the shoes must reflect the mood of the
dress. If you’re out for a very dressed up look, the shoes should also
be very dressy. The trends change from year to year, but prom is
usually a time to show off your own taste, so taking a chance on your
outfit isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The shoes are one point to take
that kind of chance. Sequins, feathers, bows and other frills are
entirely up to the wearer.
Finding the right style is important, but finding the right heel is
also important. If the prom dress calls for heels of a specific height,
buying something different will mean the dress will need to be altered.
Shorter dresses might not need to be altered because of the height of
the prom shoe heel, but it could be that the shoes that looked great on
the display table don’t go that well with the prom dress. Be sure to
try everything on well ahead of time.
The evening calls for heels, but keep in mind that you’ll be spending
several hours in those shoes. If they aren’t at least marginally
comfortable, you’ll be limping before the evening gets started and your
shoes could literally ruin your evening.
